A government study that was released today showed that obesity rates for New York City schoolchildren have decreased — for students in K-8, the rate of obesity dropped one percentage point from the 2006-07 school year to this year. There isn’t any detail about what led to the decrease, but there is speculation that it could be because of some policy changes.
I don’t think they are talking about Congress classifying pizza as a vegetable.
Either way, this is great news and trend that needs to continue. We need to make sure today’s kids know the importance of exercise and healthy eating, and how to make sure it’s a part of their daily lives.
