Ah, Friday. You are finally here.
So usually Friday is a rest day, but since I took yesterday off to help my knee feel better, I decided that I would do a run this morning. I did four miles, as tomorrow I will be doing my first long run in the training plan for the Boston Marathon! It’s 14 miles, so nothing too crazy but I still didn’t want to overdo it today.
I also did my ab workout this morning, but my body wasn’t in the mood for the plank. I did my typical one minute, but was hoping to extend it a bit since it’s already nearly one week into the Fabruary challenge. However, I topped off my workout with these — mountain climbers with a twist (I could feel the burn!):
I like how it is a robotic movement — I think these will be joining the roster of my workouts full time.
So two of my good friends moved away from NYC yesterday. I am going to miss them, but I’m not sure they are going to miss the city as much as I would. While we are BFFs with NYC (granted, we’ve had some ups and downs), they were bullied the whole time that they lived in the city. Everything that lives up to a stereotypical NYC experience (rodents in the apartment, crappy landlord, etc.) happened to them. As they were moving yesterday, NYC had one final way of saying goodbye… you have to check out their blog post… it’s worth a good laugh (and after you finish reading, check out the awesome t-shirts they sell — they have lots on sale!).
It’s official! I have a wedding dress. I can’t share it on here, because my fiance randomly logs on… but you can see it in about seven and a half months. I was on Twitter yesterday when I came across this new running apparel company that actually sells a runaway bride dress:
I actually saw a “runaway bride” when I ran the NYC Marathon in 2010. I think her and her husband were renewing their vows. So you know, if anyone has the itch to tie the knot in an upcoming race, you now have a wedding dress!
They also have “rundies” — hilarious:
They have some cool stuff on the site, so I’m going to take a look at it in more detail to see if there is anything I want to order. Definitely will report back if I order anything!
I absolutely love to read (I actually have another blog, Crazy Book Reviews, that is dedicated to reading and book reviews) so I love the idea of World Book Night. World Book Night is trying to show non-readers how awesome reading is. They are doing this on one night, Monday, April 23, where a team of book givers across America will hand out books to non-readers. I found out yesterday that my application was approved and I will be a book giver! They send you 20 books and you just have to pass them out — that easy. I’m going to pass mine out around Madison Square Park and if I have any left, in the subway. Pretty sure they will be gone in about two seconds. Anyways, they have extended their application deadline to Monday, February 6, so if you are interested at all… put your application in! Great way to spread the word that reading is fun and cool.
P.S. I also had a dream about the Empire State Building Run Up last night. I had a dream that I finished in 27 minutes and it was amazing! I’m curious to see what my time will be…
