Remember how one of my goals for 2012 was to run marathon #9? Well, it’s official — that marathon will be the Brooklyn Marathon! This will be the smallest marathon I’ve run as it’s capped at 500 runners. However, the thing I am most excited about is I can walk to the start.
Yep, it doesn’t get better than that. The race starts at 8 a.m. and runs through Prospect Park. Perhaps the toughest part of the course is the mental battle since you run the Prospect Park loop several times. That means that training will be easy since I’ll be practicing that in the park I’m obsessed with.
If you’re interested in running the Brooklyn Marathon, register before 3/1 for a special “early bird” rate of $85.
However, training will be interesting. We are getting married on October 13 in Jamaica, which means we will be spending a few days under the sun, relaxing there…
…and then we are headed to Spain (Barcelona and Seville) for our honeymoon…
So really, I’m not sure how much running I’ll be able to do during those two weeks (if any at all). However, I think I can use the Brooklyn Marathon as a “fun” marathon since I am planning to run Houston again in January. Plus, I did take a good week off when we went to Japan (although we were walking around a lot) and still had a great time (BQed) at the Madison Marathon. So we’ll see!
What’s the smallest marathon you’ve run? Do you run when you’re on vacation?
