This morning was a little rough getting up, I must admit. Maybe it’s my new old age. Actually I think that most of it is attributed to having one too many drinks last night… whoops. But I knew that the weather this morning was ah-mazing, and didn’t want to miss out.
After lolly-gagging in bed for 20 minutes, I finally got myself up and out the door. And I’m so happy I did. Even though I realized that my shirt was on inside out a few minutes after I left… again, must be the old age.
My run was phenomenal! No IT Band pain, soreness or anything. I even did some sprints in the park, which was great. I love doing sprints in the part of the park that’s a little boring because it goes by so much faster. I finished up with some ab exercises, including this new intense one that C [remember, new name for my fiance] showed me. Grab some free weights (I use 5 lbs) and basically you lay down in sit-up position (with your knees bent). Put your arms out straight behind you with the weights in your arms. You’ll lift them slightly off the ground and pull yourself up to about 45* angle with your abs. It’s important you engage your abs… because then you’ll really feel the burn! I did 3 sets of 10 (weak) and plan to build up over the next few weeks.
Anyways, back to my birthday. Despite having to work, it was a great day! I went out to lunch with a friend to Eataly, which was absolutely delicious. I topped it off with mint chocolate chip gelato, technically my first time ever having gelato (I did have it with a cookie a few weeks ago) and it was amazing. I snuck out of work a bit early and we went to our favorite bar for some cocktails on their new outdoor patio. We topped it off with some delicious Thai at my favorite restaurant (which is probably the cheapest you’ll find — $6-$8 per person for entrees!).
It was a great day, although I am a little bummed that I didn’t win the Mega Millions Jackpot to top it off. Next year, right? C bought me two books that I’ve been eyeing up for awhile, and I can’t wait to read them (I think most of the Grimm tales are the “real” versions, not the Disney ones).
Oh, and of course, when we were out yesterday, I was looking at my new purse… and there were these little bite marks on the handle.
Typical Jax. He seems to have a need to chew everything that he sees. His stamp of approval?
I guess we’ll be prepared if and when we adopt a dog?
What motivates you to get out of bed on those “I don’t wanna” mornings? Have you had a chance to enjoy the beautiful spring weather?
