AN EXPERIENCE I DIDN’T NEED

This weekend was a wash-out in New York City (at least the Yankees pulled out an incredible win, sorry Red Sox fans). I don’t think it’s rained that much since we moved here. That’s okay, because it meant less distractions from working on the invitations… which are almost done. Pictures by the end of the week, promise.
Anyways, we went out for dinner on Saturday night and right when we started walking home (about a 15 minute walk from where we were), it started to sprinkle. I felt a small victory as I pulled an umbrella out of my purse (seriously, this thing is like Mary Poppins’ magic carpet bag, so much stuff gets hidden in the creases… when we were in Boston, I found a full pack of Post-Its in it which was so handy). It started to pour, so we diverted under an awning until it tamed down. We finally started heading home and seriously, I was so proud of my umbrella and foresight for keeping us dry. (Do you sense the foreshadowing that is happening here?)
As we were walking across a small bridge, a cabbie came flying over and right into this ginormous puddle, creating a huge tidal wave that cascaded over us in slow motion. Yep. I was on the side nearest the street so my right side of my body was soaked. The half-wet dog hairstyle looks very dashing these days. C somehow got drenched on the left side of his body. We were still four or five blocks from home, and I couldn’t help but laugh. Such a New York City experience… one that wasn’t on my bucket list, but luckily we were on our way home and not on our way out for the evening. I told my mom and she said, “oh, it’s just like in the movies!”
With all the rain (it continued to downpour on Sunday), I didn’t have a chance to get out to run… tomorrow is the day. I desperately need to get a run in because I’m started to feel stressed out and I need some serious zen time in the form of pounding the pavement to organize my brain.
Anyone else go crazy when you don’t have a chance to run/exercise? How do you pass the time on a rainy day?

Oh noooo! That really is like in the movies!
And YES. I go absolutely nutso when I don't exercise. Grumpy, stressy, just plain not fun to be around. Exercise really is the best cure for a bad mood!
Yeah the whole stressy-ness is what I don't like… plus I just can't sleep as well! Definitely not for me
I get super grumpy when I can't exercise. I hope that the rain goes away so that you can get in some miles before you get too stir crazy.
I'm glad I'm not the only one!
I'm in the last taper week before Eugene and am going nuts. I wanted to run today but am still a little sore from Saturday's long run and working in the garden. I hate tapering.
I agree, tapering is the WORST! I heard Meb is going to be in Eugene — hope you run into him!
Ahh! At least you were able to laugh about it
I definitely need to exercise every day. I (or people around me) start to notice that I am getting snappy or lazy if I hang around for a couple of days. It's funny because I usually don't want to go back to the gym, but once I'm there I could stay for hours.
Hahah — yeah C didn't think it was so funny haha. I agree, once you break your routine it's hard to get back at it… but it feels good once you do!
Aww your mom is so cute! It IS just like the movies, haha!
On rainy days I usually end up being really lazy and watching movies. Or I go to Target and wander around
but yes I get so antsy when I don't get a chance to exercise! It's awful
Ooh those sound like perfect rainy day solutions!
I love wandering around Target.
Well, every day is a rainy day here in Seattle so I go about my normal routine. I even run in the rain and it is actually pretty fun:) Sorry about getting splashed. I guess all you can do is laugh:)
