In honor of Cinco de Mayo, here are cinco cosas que amor a hora (bueno espanol?):
Running 15 miles. This morning I decided to be an overachiever and act like I was marathon training. I woke up around 6:15 and headed out the door after a piece of gluten-free toast and peanut butter for a long run. I ended up running 15 and 1/2 miles. It was the first time that I ran with Jelly Belly Sports Beans.
I am very impressed! They are pretty tasty, not as tasty as their original jelly benas, but I loved how you could pop one or two when you felt like it. You don’t have that freedom with gels. They also don’t stick to your teeth, which is another bonus. I was lazy and didn’t take any fluid with, so it was nice that they didn’t leave me super thirsty like gels often do.
Pancakes! When I started eating gluten-free, I was so sad that I couldn’t enjoy my pancakes and peanut butter — my favorite weekend treat. But lo and behold, Bisquick has gluten-free pancake mix! Score! I think it tastes pretty good, but C says it’s nasty and mushy. Maybe I forgot the taste of real flour (or maybe peanut butter does the trick), but I love these.
A new cat tree for our cats. Spoiled much? Yeah, just a little bit. Our old cat tree was starting to look a little gross (just loved a little too much). So we bought a new one. If you have a cat and want a cat tree, check out Armarkat. They have amazing quality pieces that are HUGE and a fraction of the price what pet stores charge. This is our third cat tree from them, and it’s not because they are of bad quality. The first one was too small once we got two cats, and this last one we’ve had for about five years. It was just time for an upgrade.
But our cats were really nervous this morning when we started taking apart the old one.
I think the new one is definitely a good replacement!
Margarita parties. I know that Cinco de Mayo really doesn’t have much reason for celebration in Mexico and that us Americans celebrate it a little harder than they do. But it’s a great reason to get margaritas! Especially at our favorite margarita joint in the city, Florencia 13.
In each margarita, they give you a Lil Homie.
Planning for a Ragnar Relay: I always thought that doing one of these would be super fun to do! Luckily Kara over at Kara Runs agrees with me. She sent out a tweet a few weeks ago wondering if anyone wanted to join… so far we have seven people interested in the Ragnar Relay Adirondacks. Anyone else?! Let us know! Feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll send you the details (well, what we have for now…haha!).
What are you up to today? What are some things you love in your life right now?
