I had big plans for my run this morning and then I remembered that I was running the New York Mini 10K tomorrow morning and it probably wasn’t a good idea to go all out. So, to keep the RWRunStreak alive, I did my easy mile and finished up with Kara’s core challenge and of course, the burpee challenge. I will post an update on how this is going in the next few days, but let me just say that after breaking 35 burpees, it has gotten HARD. I can’t believe there’s only a week left of this challenge! I feel like they are making an incredible difference in my workout, but like I said, more on that later!

My coworker showed me this video yesterday and I promise you, you will get a good laugh out of it:

Have you seen all of these articles published talking about how exercise is bad for you? Puh-lease.
By analyzing data from six rigorous exercise studies involving 1,687 people, the group found that about 10 percent actually got worse on at least one of the measures related to heart disease: blood pressure and levels of insulin, HDL cholesterol or triglycerides. About 7 percent got worse on at least two measures.
I’m interested on how much worse they got… was it a matter of decimals? And, what were they eating? We all know that diet has a big impact on overall health and that should be a component of this study as well. It just makes me mad because now the people who already have 648 excuses why they can’t exercise can add this to their list. All people see are the headlines and don’t realize what the science behind the studies are and of course, the media is going to sensationalize it. Ay. At least one of the doctors analyzing the data agrees:
“There are a lot of people out there looking for any excuse not to exercise,” said William Haskell, emeritus professor of medicine at the Stanford Prevention Research Center. “This might be an excuse for them to say, ‘Oh, I must be one of those 10 percent.’”

Of course I have wedding on the brain, but when I stumbled across this site I thought it was so cool!
We all know how horrendous bridesmaid dresses can be…
I mean, everyone always says, “I tried to pick this because you can wear it again!” but does anyone ever really wear it outside of the wedding? Granted in recent years, these dresses have gotten MUCH better and more flattering. But, if you are sick of having it clutter up your closet, check out NewlyMaid. They have a service where you can exchange your bridesmaid dress for a little black dress at a lower price. The dresses are made by the Dessy Group (LOVE them!) and are actually pretty cute.

my fav – the jennifer
So, if you are in the market for a LBD and have a spare bridesmaid dress lying around, check it out! I just wish you could trade in a few dresses for credit and end up getting the LBD for free…
P.S. Happy Friday! And don’t forget to check back later today because I am REALLY kicking off the giveaway this time… and since I slacked, I’m throwing in an extra goodie just for one of you!

Have a great race tomorrow! I am in shock that you can do that many burpees. I want to cry after number 15. Beautiful dress!
Thank you!! Oh trust me, I never thought I would be able to get up this high! I think adding one a day has made it more feasible.
omg that research makes me mad!! like people really need another excuse to NOT exercise! grr. but anyways that bridesmaid dress sounds really awesome! what a good deal. I have see that video before too! sooo funny! happy Friday!
Happy Friday to you too! Yeah seriously, and the worst part is the media is ALL over it. Of course because it's bad news… lame.
Ahahaha Talking animal videos are always good
I think bridesmaid dresses have gotten a lot better in recent years. Mostly because it is way easier to wear a cocktail dress again than a floor length gown! That's neat that you are able to turn in old dresses for something new and pretty
Yeah that's true! Plus most people get married in the summer and floor-length gown just doesn't work.
I saw an ad to participate in a health study in Madison – something along the lines of 'does exercise and meditation help prevent cold and flu'. I called and the first item to qualify was to not be a regular exerciser. I told the lady she could stop right there!
Umm that's so weird?! Ugh.
The bridesmaid dress I would like to pick for my bridesmaids will certainly look like the black one (but in color)
i love it!!
Horrible picture btw… Ugggggh
I hope we don't look back on our wedding pictures one day and think our bridesmaid dresses were awful, haha.
I think that in 20 years, our bridesmaid dresses will look over-ugly (or be over-cool-vintage, haha)
I tried to show a picture of a dress to my witness 2, and she thought is was nice. Now I just have to find some dresses like that…
But witness 1 is a little scared that I don't choose a dress beautiful enough. She's scared that the dress will be to "normal"… grrrrr
What did your bridesmaids said?
Hahha that's true!! Ooh that's a really hard critique — being too normal! Although remind her it will be combined with all the unique elements of your wedding…
My bridesmaids will be in this, in magenta (we are getting married on the beach in Jamaica so I think it fits well!)

It's lovely!! (The dress but moreover Jamaica!!!!!!!)
Hahah thanks!!
yes, only a week left in the burpee challenge. and i am not sad. lol
Hahah I know, right? But it's one of those things where I think when it's done… I will kinda miss it.
Good luck tomorrow! I love that LBD, it is very cute. I just bought a LBD at Nordstrom this week for a bachelorette party tomorrow. It is HOT, fits me like a glove. I am so excited to wear it!
Thanks!! Oh cuteee!! I need one for an upcoming bachelorette party and will def check out Nordstrom!
