Yesterday was so much fun! I think it even topped last year’s adventure to Six Flags. Let me preface this by saying that before last year, I had only ridden one rollercoaster. I am terrified of heights and it took a lot of convincing to get me on that one rollercoaster. I still ride them with my eyes closed (mostly) and hands holding on tight, but they are fun. I’m working on the whole opening my eyes and holding on part…

Anyways, we got to the park yesterday before it go too hot and mistakenly let our friend Ed lead the way. He had a master plan up his sleeve and we didn’t realize it until it was too late…

Yep, he wanted us to ride THIS one first. Seriously?! We didn’t ride it last year because it’s so tall and if its windy, that means they have to shut it down for safety reasons. Here are some facts on Kingda Ka:

The fierce Kingda Ka is the tallest coaster in the World, fastest in North America. This remarkable thrill ride breaks all world records for coaster speed and height, zooming from 0 to 128 mph in 3.5 seconds and catapulting you 45 stories into the sky.

At first my plan was to wait in line and then just walk through (C would not have been happy). So we’re waiting in line and I started talking to this kid behind me who was celebrating his 11th birthday. I was asking him when he first rode a rollercoaster (his dad said 7) and told him that El Toro (a really rough wooden one) was my favorite. I swear he held back from rolling his eyes and was like, “yeah I rode that one when I was like 5.” So then I was like well do you close your eyes when you ride? “Um, maybe if I blink.” HAHA. I figured it this kid could do it, I could do it. (And plus, the ride only lasts for 18 seconds…)

It really was a lot of fun (eyes closed entire time)… and is amazing when they shoot you up and you are about to drop, it does a little twist. Awesome.

The rest of the day we spent going on the other ‘coasters, which we had hit up the year before.

We tried Superman for the first time where you lay down, which feels SO weird.

We rode El Toro three times, where we had to buy this photo:

The photo dude said it was the best photo of the day. I can’t look at this with a straight face because there is just so much… going on. Hahah. (Note: I am behind C but not ducking, I for some reason can’t hold my head up on this ride? I look the same in every picture haha).

All in all, a great day… even if it meant sweating uncontrollably (which played to our advantage because the park was dead).

Sadly, back to reality for a few hours before I jet off to Wisconsin for the weekend. The weather is ridiculous right now:

…which might not seem SO bad until you realize its that temperature in a city with 8 million people and concrete with most apartments not having A/C. OK, I’m done whining.

Are you a fan of rollercoasters? What’s the craziest one you’ve ridden?

Is it hot by you today? How do you beat the heat?
