SAPPY SUNDAY: SAVE THE DATES

Welcome to the second edition of Sappy Sunday! If you missed last week’s post, it was all about location, location, location and why we chose a destination wedding in the first place.
The second biggest decision we made after getting engaged? Our save the dates. What were they going to look like? Of course, we wanted something that fit with our entire theme. Doing a magnet didn’t seem to be exotic enough. And of course, we didn’t want to do a traditional postcard.
So…
We decided to make boarding passes!
It sounds a lot harder than it is. There are tons of templates on the web and I used one of these and altered it to how we wanted it.
(Names are blurred/erased on purpose
)
Anyways, the hardest part of this was putting together the envelopes. I am a perfectionist. I wanted it to look awesome. So of course, I spent hours — probably at least 20+ putting together the little boarding pass envelopes (keep in mind, we only have ~60 families on our list). By the end, my fingers HURT. I’m pretty sure the glue burned off most of my fingerprints.
But it was so worth it.
What’s the most creative save the date or wedding invitation you’ve received?

Major props for creativity and crafts! I've seen couples taking engagement pics in Madison and they are holding a sign or frame with the date listed.
Thanks! I love those pictures!! You can get so creative…
Those save the dates are fantastic!!! You are very creative to come up with that idea and it goes so well with your theme. My husband's cousin who is getting married next month in Palm Springs had a pretty cool invitation and save the date. They are getting married at the Ace hotel (I guess it is supposed to be super cool) so the invites looked really retro to go along with theme of the hotel.
Ooh that sounds really cool!! It's so fun to think of all the different things that you can do!
Those are so cute Lora!! And I loved the picture of your cake on twitter!!
Thank you! My mom did such a good job with it!
So sweet!!! Wedding planning is the best. Seriously.
I know, what am I going to do in two months w/o it?! Haha.
What a creative idea Lora. So adorable!!
Thank you!
Soooo freaking clever!!! I love it!
Thanks!!
These are ADORABLE!!!! All that hard work was definitely worth it
Yes definitely!! Thank you!
Aww! What an awesome idea, I LOVE that! That's really original, I don't think I've seen a cooler invite.
Thanks, girl!!

We had a destination wedding too. I LOVE your save the dates! Wish I had thought of that
That's awesome! Where did you get married? There are SO many good ideas out there it's hard to pick what to do!
We decided on Mexico because it was the place my husband decided he wanted to propose so it was special (and it was a little closer for our guests on the west coast). We were in the middle of an international move so I sort of regret not having the time to make our save the date and invites ourselves. There are so many awesome ideas out there!! You did an amazing job! Congrats!!
That's awesome!! I love hearing people's wedding stories.
