SAPPY SUNDAY: Bouquets + Flowers

Welcome to another edition of Sappy Sunday! In case you missed it, the last posts covered:

I thought today I’d share our plans for our bouquets and flowers. I really wanted to do something different when we started planning our destination wedding. And I stumbled across just the idea on Etsy!

Remember a few months ago when I teased you with some random supplies? It was to make my bouquets!

Shell bouquets to be more specific! Originally, I was going to buy them on Etsy but the prices jumped so high it was like… well, I bet I could do them. My first try was good, but not perfect. I used a green cone that was shaved down a bit, but you could see it under the shells.

Next.

Then I tried using a white foam ball that was cut in half. This was even worse! I couldn’t get the right dimension with the shells and it just looked BLAH.

Ugh.

So I did a little bit more research and found that people’s tips were to glue the shells to pipe cleaners and then arrange them that way. It sounded impossible. And time consuming.

But, wow.

It is the best option so far! Right now, I have two bouquets nearly completed (just a few finishing touches + the handles)… they are slightly different sizes and do look a little different from each other, but tha adds to the appeal. As soon as I get more hot glue, I am back at it.

In the meantime, here is a brief preview:

As for our other flowers, the men’s boutonnieres will also be made from shells. We are considering flowers for the arch that we will be married under, but I don’t know how necessary it will be since we will have the ocean and natural flora in the background. Thoughts? We are also considering flowers for our table centerpieces since I have NO idea what to do for this…

What’s your favorite flower? Do you have any tips/ideas for centerpieces?
