I may or may not be totally addicted to Little Black Bag. Just saying. This site is SO fun and very time consuming. I’m sure C thinks I’m crazy…
Despite feeling like a sore ball of muscles, I rolled out of bed this morning and got 4 miles in. It was tough (especially since the first mile is a huge incline) but I’m so happy I did it because this is what it’s going to feel like during Ragnar.
Five things I’m looking forward to this week:
- The Color Run! I am running the Color Run on Sunday and am pumped! Let’s just hope the rain stays away otherwise we can’t do fun color run stuff like get powder thrown in our faces. Our team name is awesome and we have some fun costumes. I don’t want to give it away so more details post-race.
- A new workout routine: I am switching up how I do my workouts moving forward to see if it makes a difference. The whole running and then squeezing in a few workouts afterwards while running around like a chicken with my head cut off just isn’t working. I’m going to focus four days a week on only running and then three days will be primarily cross-training/strength training. I may also sneak in a shorter run on one of those days so I can stick with my goal of running 5 days a week. I think spending 30-40 minutes on cross-training will be more effective than trying to squeeze in a few minutes here and there.
- Two-minute plank: I think I can do it! I will still do planks every day, or as much as I can. This morning, I did a 1:45 plank which is my longest ever and I know I can hit two minutes this week.
- Coney Island: I bought a Groupon for Coney Island with some friends and we are going to go on Saturday. I am excited to go… I’ve only been to Coney Island post-Brooklyn Half and only walked past as I headed to the subway so it’ll be a fun afternoon.
- Cooler weather: After all of my whining, it looks like Mother Nature may have listened! It was a cool 68* this morning on my run… no complaints here! I’m hoping the cooler weather is here to stay.
What five things are you looking forward to this week?

I just had a post last week about how difficult I am finding it to stick to crosstraining! It’s so nice to hear others with this same problem. Sounds like you have a good plan. I got in my crosstraining last week than I have in months so I hope that was the start of something good. Good luck to you!
Yes! It just isn’t that exciting as running? Ha, I think part of it too is I know I am good at running… cross-training, not so much. Good luck!!
Oh I can’t wait to see your Color run pictures! Have a great week!!
Thanks!! You too!!
It should be a fun race… hahah
It sounds like you have a fun week ahead of you! I’m sure you can get in that 2 minute plank–you definitely have enough determination to get it done. This week I’m looking forward to checking some big things off my to-do list and getting in some good runs.
Awesome — checking things off the to do list is always great!
I did a 3 minute plank on Saturday and I almost barfed. It hurt like a mother effer! Haha. I usually focus on 3 running workouts (tempo, speed, long run), with 2 cross training days (strength, plus and easy 3-5 mile run) and then one day that I do very light running and lifting (2-3 miles easy, easy, easy plus some abs) and then one rest day. I need the structure with my hectic schedule and this seems to work.
HOLY COW! You go girl!! That sounds like an awesome schedule! Have you always done it this way?
I’m so jealous you’re doing a Color Run–I can’t wait to see pictures!
Yes, definitely will have lots of pictures to share!
Your bouquets look great! What a clever idea for a beachy wedding! Can’t wait to hear about the Color Run….it’s on my bucket list
Thank you!! It sounds really fun, I’m excited!!
I’m looking forward to not being sick x5 haha…Kidding..I’m looking forward to:
1. Not being sick…seriously I’m over it
2. Getting in a real long run on saturday, after a week set back
3. Bringing two newbies to Soul Cycle on Wed, b/c I’m obsessed and love company haha
4. Celebrating my friends birthday on Saturday outside with a beer in hand
5. Taking my new bike out for another spin
Sounds like an AWESOME week!! What is Soul Cycle?
Have so much fun at the Color Run! It really is a blast!
Thanks!! I’m glad you liked it — I’m excited!
I think it’s a great idea to set aside a few ideas to focus on cross training. I need to get my act together with planning workouts. I take SO LONG every day to decide what to do. It’d be much better if I planned ahead for once in my life!
Haha I’m the same way… I literally thought about my workout for like 3 hours last night, LOL!
