SAPPY SUNDAY: INVITATIONS

Welcome to another edition of Sappy Sunday!

So far, posts have included:

Today I thought I’d talk about our invitations. These were perhaps one of the most fun DIY projects that I’ve completed for the wedding (I’ve loved all of them, but this one that is all my own and completely love how they turned out). At first, I was convinced that we were going to do message in a bottle invitations. I thought these looked SO COOL and would really wow our guests.

But then I started thinking about it, and it was like, how will people display the actual invitation? Is it practical? We decided that while they are really cool, they weren’t right for our invitations and might have been better as save the dates.

I knew that I wanted to do something different, not just your traditional invitation in an envelope. Enter the starfish.

We determined that we could do a traditional invitation and then add some pop to the outside of the invite by adding a starfish and ribbon.

The inside looked like your traditional invitation, it had all the cards with the travel information and details about the actual wedding events.

And the completed invitation with starfish…

I thought to make it a little bit more personal, we could add a starfish tag to the front.

This was personalized with the person’s name and we also tied the invitations with raffia for a tropical look (after wrapping in brown tissue paper).

And then we misted it with some beach spray (thanks Bath and Body Works!) and shipped it in a little box wrapped in brown shipping paper. Perfect!

Our guests loved them. They said it made them feel more special to get a package in the mail and they could tell that we spent a lot of time on each individual one.

What’s the most unique wedding invitation you’ve received? How did you determine your theme for your wedding?
