PRODUCT REVIEW: CORE POWER + GIVEAWAY

A few weeks ago, the awesome people over at Core Power asked me if I wanted to try their product. I had heard a lot of great things about it and am always looking for new ways to get protein into my diet, so I was definitely on board.
Soon, this creatively wrapped package showed up on my doorstep…
I love getting mail, but mail in really cool packaging? Even better!
I decided to save the drink until after a long run and fueled up after my 17 miler last weekend. One of my problems when I get done with a long run like that is I’m really hungry afterwards, but move a little slower since my body is still freaking out a bit about what just happened (you know, the whole we just ran the distance between my hometown and the nearest ‘city’ aka place with a stoplight). I’ve had some instances where I don’t fuel up soon enough after running and I pay for it the rest of the day.

A delicious post workout recovery drink for your active lifestyle, Core Power is a real milk protein drink made from fresh, lowfat, lactose-free milk and real honey. Its optimum protein to carb ratio and nutrient-rich profile make for the perfect last stage of every workout.

Even though you don’t have to refrigerate before drinking, I did and I think was the perfect touch. I tried the vanilla and it was REALLY good. Like you couldn’t even tell it was a protein drink. It felt like I was drinking liquid vanilla pudding. While I know many people are concerned about liquid calories, in this case, I think Core Power has the right balance of calories to fit with your needs after a long and tough endurance workout — and it’s GOOD calories, not just empty sugar.
This weekend I have a 20 miler and can’t wait to try the next flavor… Strawberry Banana! The Honey also sounds really tasty…

To answer your question:What's your favorite food to eat to "recharge" after a tough workout?, I have been trying to drink a protein shake (if I remember) on days that I run. I drink Optimum Nutrition Whey Protein in Chocolate Malt!

I usually refuel with a protein shake if I'm in a rush….if I have some extra time I like to make a smoothie or have a pb&j sandwich!

I love refueling with peanut butter and celery! A great protein boost! Core Power sounds wonderful especially the Strawberry Banana!
I think first I chug down tons of water haha HAVE to have lots of it after a tough workout or long run. Then Ill have some fruit, greek yogurt, or oatmeal.
I like to recharge with peanut butter, and anything that goes with it (which can be a lot!)!
