I am traveling for work which is one of my least favorite things in the world. I just hate how it messes up the whole flow of your life and you have no time to do anything. Like blog posts.
But it happens. Anyways, just wanted to update you guys on a few cool things:
1) I did my first 20 mile training run yesterday for Brooklyn Marathon and it went well! My stomach was of course at war with me for the first half, but eventually settled down (will there be a day where I don’t include this in a blog post?!). I’m surprised at how sore my hamstrings are today, really weird. But I love being sore so I’ll take it.
2) I AM RUNNING THE BOSTON MARATHON! It’s official. I received my confirmation email yesterday… which means I’m also in for the Boston 2 Big Sur Marathon! So excited!! I have four marathons on the calendar for next year. I’m thinking I still need a few more… particularly in the Midwest.
3) Just FYI, there is a huge difference between Wisconsin and Illinois. Don’t confuse it. You’ll make a lot of really cool people (aka Wisconsinites) really mad.
4) Can you believe that Ragnar Adirondacks is FOUR DAYS away! That’s insanity. I am so excited! I actually packed for the trip this morning since I won’t have time to do that once I get back from this business trip. I don’t even know what to expect, minus the fact that the entire thing is going to be super awesome.
How was your Monday? Do you have anything really exciting going on? TELL ME ABOUT IT!

Woo woo!! Agreed, just have to think of the end goal!!
That's amazing!! Congrats on Boston!! Woohoo! Travel for work is certainly OVERRATED!
Yes I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks that!! You are required to work double and have no time for personal obligations. YUCK! Hopefully it's the last trip for awhile
You are going to have a crazy busy week. No wonder why you started packing for your wedding so early. I don't blame you!
Congrats on officially getting into Boston. I sure hope that it closes soon because it makes me sad to see every morning that it is still open. UGH!
Ahh I know, I am starting to feel like I'm going nuts!! That's OK, a nice weekend of running will solve that.
Congrats on Boston! What's Boston 2 Big Sur??
Thanks!! It's a challenge where you run Boston and then 13 days later run Big Sur in California. Been on my list for years
Oh awesome! That will be fun!

Congrats on getting into the big races!! My calves usually hurt after a long run too.
Thanks!!
Congrats on the 20 miler and on Boston!
My Monday excitement was Joy Bauer (Today Show) retweeting one of my tweets.
#3 is most definitely important!!
and congrats on Boston!
Thanks chica!
I did Ragnar DC this weekend. It was AWESOME!
Awesome!!! Any tips??
We had a spreadsheet that told us exactly when each runner would get to each exchange, and it is super valuable. Especially in the city, where we couldn't drive as quickly as our runners could run. There was a 2.2 mile leg in D.C. We never would have made it. We didn't have that problem running Ragnar Chicago, just Ragnar D.C.
A mid colored sheet is nice for each van. You can hang it over the visors if you're trying to sleep in a lit parking lot at an exchange, and you can cover a window if you're parked really close to another van.
Keeping electronics charged can be an issue. If you have a converter to make an electrical outlet, take Christmas lights too. They're worth it! We had a few multi-USB chargers, and that seemed to help. Expect dead zones for cell coverage.
Most importantly, used clothes go into a Ziplock bag, and you are never allowed to open it in the van. Never. It keeps the van smelling great. We go through a lot of wipes. Our team does it with 10 every year, and that gives us a lot of room to spread out.
Oh, and you'll get codes for free shipping, and some Ragnar gear goes on sale. Just try it on, and you can order most of it online.
Good Luck!!
Wow thanks for all of the great tips!! So helpful!!
Congrats on the 20 miler AND getting into Boston! That is so awesome!
Thanks, girl!!
