So one of the things that I learned about Ragnar is that your eating gets a little strange. You are basically living out of a car during the race so your choices are what you brought with you (unless you make additional stops, which we didn’t). We had some really good food in our car — ham and Muenster cheese, cheese flavored peanut butter pretzels (yum) and other random things.
I had a plan in my head that I was going to have a peanut butter and banana sandwich after my last leg, but didn’t realize we didn’t have any bananas left. Instead, I created the best sandwich in the universe.
Yep, that’s really peanut butter and candy corn in sandwich form.
It was absolutely amazing… not even joking. The candy corn added a nice sweetness to the sandwich. I think this is the best idea I’ve ever had in my life. If you agree, please vote for me in RunningShoes.com #RunTreat contest… I’ll even share the super complicated recipe.
It was so awesome to get up and run this morning through Prospect Park. I feel like I’ve been going through withdrawals because it’s been so long. Let me back up, I was mostly excited that I was ready to go when the alarm went off — I hope that means I’m finally caught up on sleep. Oddly, my calves were the most tight this morning (Adirondacks hills?) and they never get sore. They will be spending some QT with the foam roller tonight, that’s for sure. It was a great run overall, even if I was a little premature in breaking out the long-sleeve shirt to run in. Oops.
