Rest days have become one of my favorite days of the week mostly because it means I can SLEEP IN. Sleep has become such a wanted commodity in my life… but that’s OK. Some day I’ll catch up on it and my bags will disappear.
Anyways, today’s five thoughts:
1) Have you heard about this incredible story?
Four months ago, Monique Koll was in a hospital bed, wondering if she would ever walk again. The Louisianawoman had suffered a severe spinal cord injury when a motorist struck her while she was riding her bicycle, and doctors originally weren’t sure she’d survive.
On Sunday, Koll was back on her feet, crossing the finish line of the Rock ‘N’ Roll New Orleans Half Marathon with the help of her boyfriend who has been with her every step of the way. Koll, 35, slowly and steadily made it across the finish line while she held the left arm of Nick Zaunbrecher, 31, who had pushed her in a wheelchair for the entire 13-mile race up to that point.
So amazing! Monique’s story is incredible, hearing how hard she’s worked and how much she’s improved is inspirational for anyone.
2) You know I have a weakness for t-shirts…
…and how amazing is this from Sweat Pink? It’s in honor of all of the really cool events they are hosting in Austin for SXSW.
I am definitely going for the blue tank. An early birthday present to myself, perhaps?
3) Can you believe that March is two days away?
Where in the world did February go?! I always feel like February is the slowest month even though it’s the shortest month. Anyways, March is my favorite month for obvious reasons… it’s my birthday month! Plus it generally means that spring is here. And this year? I’m running the NYC Half! I’m so excited for this race — I worked hard last year for guaranteed entry and I think it’s going to be amazing to run through Times Square.
4) I am loving my snack-filled diet…
I must say I was a little nervous about eating so much. It just seemed like there was SO MUCH FOOD. I thought I may see some weight gain, I mean really… logically it doesn’t make sense to eat more to weigh less, right? But I had to trust in the nutritionist — after all, that’s her job and her expertise.
The one thing I need to work on, still, is emotional eating. I tend to turn to food when I am stressed out or upset which is not cool. Granted it’s less than before because my snacks seem to fulfill that but definitely something to work on. More on how my diet has changed later this week. 🙂
5) Speaking of snacks…
GIVEAWAY TIME! A few weeks ago, I was sent these awesome Snack Bites:
They are like little (healthy) cookie dough balls. I love the Nutty Monkey the best because you get a nice banana and peanut butter flavor. The best part is that they are 50-60 calories and packed with lots of goodness. Like protein. My nutritionist had said that you want a little protein with your snack… so these are perfect to pair with an apple or another fruit in the middle of the day.
