Yesterday, Ashley almost gave me a heart attack when she told me that HufPo had reported that Lil’ Wayne was in critical condition in ICU. I absolutely LOVE him (yes, I realize if you didn’t already know that, it may seem a little odd. OK, really odd). He’s the only artist that I’ve listened to on my iPod for like the past two years. No lie.
Anyways, it turns out that TMZ was a little ambitious in his reporting. Mack Maine (fellow rapstar) went on a Twitter rampage in pure anger about the false reports. Apparently Lil’ Wayne is still in the hospital but no where near death. Hopefully this is the true report and he gets himself straight.

Tomorrow is the NYC Half Marathon and it looks like the weather is going to be perfect. I’m treating this as a tune-up race in the middle of training for Boston Marathon (which by the way is less than a month away! Whhaaa!!!)
When it comes to not running marathons, I’m not very good at pacing myself. I’m stuck at running marathon pace for all of my races… I don’t know what it is but it’s just stuck in my head to run that speed, even if the distance is half what it is for a marathon. Even for short races like the 4Ms that NYRR puts on, 5Ks, 10Ks, everything. Tomorrow, I want to change that.
Scratch that. Tomorrow, I will change that.
This is my #1 goal — to actually run a half-marathon pace. My current PR is 1:41.24. I would love to cut at least 7 minutes off this.
Given my current training program for Boston, I KNOW I can do this. And if the weather cooperates, that’s just another benefit. Plus I’ll be rocking these awesome socks:
When I wore compression socks during my previous marathons, I could tell a big difference. My legs didn’t seem to get as tired… and plus they are so festive!
And well, of course, my number one goal is always to have a good time. I don’t think that will be too hard given that this race is a HUGE deal in NYC and there will be tons of spectators out on the course. So, let’s all cross our fingers that I have a very cheerful race recap for you tomorrow afternoon… 🙂
