After the second suspect was caught last night, I feel like I had the first genuine smile on my face since Monday afternoon when everything happened.

I loved waking up this morning to read how the city of Boston came together to celebrate the capture! I saw some criticism on Twitter that the celebrations were insensitive and failed to recognize the victims of the marathon… but I think it’s just the opposite. The country came together last night to celebrate that justice will be served and we’ll finally have answers about why this happened. The victims will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers and will not be forgotten.


Today was my first day back running since Monday. I wasn’t sure if I was going to go for five or eight miles (one loop vs. two loops around the park). Once I got to the park, I knew it was going to be a five-mile kind of day. My right quad is still quite sore from the race. So weird, why just the right leg? Not sure. It felt so good to finally be able to lace up my shoes and hit the road!

And since spring has finally sprung, I was able to break out one of my favorite (short-sleeve!) shirts:

The rest of this week will be spent tapering once again as I get ready for the Big Sur Marathon next Sunday, April 28.
