So I mistakenly decided that it was warm enough to pack away my winter running clothes yesterday, only to wake up to this morning to BRR. I’m not complaining — a frigid spring is fine with me because it means that it’ll take way less longer for it to heat up to ridiculous temperatures in NYC.

The temperatures themselves aren’t that ridiculous (80s) but it’s the whole living without air conditioning and waiting for subways on overheated platforms that is. But this year it seems like it will be different. I hope.

It feels so good to be back at running, even though I’m still in taper mode. But it’s taper plus recovery, and during recovery phase, I am always so appreciate of running.

One of my favorite things about running is I feel it gives me a chance to do some mental filing. I feel like without running my mind is a jumbled mess and I just really can’t make sense of things… oh and the stress. My stress level goes through the roof without running. No bueno.

It has helped me process everything that has happened in the past week and get me through it all. I think for this reason alone, running will be in my life forever.

OK, enough of the love fest. I also wanted to mention HAPPY EARTH DAY.

In celebration of our Earth, do something good for the planet today. Like skip that bottled water and drink filtered water from your tap (there are even cool water bottles that filter the water for you like these). This may be one of my biggest pet peeves. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes I get stuck with bottled water (aka in meetings or before runs) but I try to avoid it as much as possible… it’s a waste of money, plastic and everything in between to buy bottles of water.
