So I really think that New York has something against Wisconsin. Every time I travel there, it’s a nightmare and ends up with me crying in the airport (I can’t help it, I’m a crier. I’ll be 80 and still crying about stupid stuff).

Friday night, I got to the airport and whizzed through security, only to find out my flight to Chicago (where I was connecting to Green Bay) was delayed by THREE hours. Apparently there were some weather issues earlier in the day that meant traffic issues so everything was getting delayed. I went and spoke to a customer representative and he stuck me on a flight to Chicago that was leaving in like 5 minutes. Running through the airport experience #1. In the meantime, I found out that my connecting flight to Green Bay was randomly canceled so while I had a way to Chicago, I had no way to Wisconsin.

Land in Chicago, find out that the only option I have left to even get relatively close to my hometown is to try and catch a flight to Milwaukee leaving in 15 minutes. And it was leaving out of a completely different terminal. I have never been happier to be in marathon shape! Running through the airport experience #2 (so many weird looks). I reached the gate right before they closed the doors and sweet talked myself on the plane.

My parents are awesome and drove down to pick me up (over 2 hours… each way). We finally got home at 3 a.m.

It was such a wonderful weekend and its so funny how I appreciate Wisconsin now more than when I lived there. It’s such a beautiful state, especially in the spring and summer.

{summer boating in WI = best memories ever}

My friend’s bridal shower was awesome and it was so good to see her and a bunch of other friends. OH and I finally got my hair cut! It was looking rough. I’m cheap and refuse to pay the hundreds of dollars they charge in NYC to do your hair…

We also celebrated my sister’s birthday while I was back and before long… it was time to head back to the airport. Sad.

Everything on the way back went well… minus the whole taking 3 hours to get home from Newark Airport. Apparently NJ Transit only runs one train during 3 p.m. hour so of course I arrived after that went through and had to wait nearly an hour for the next one.

Oh the joys of travel… 🙂

{my favorite cuddle buddy}

Well before my airport running escapades, I had decided I was taking the weekend off from working out (plus packed a super small bag with no room for… gasp! running shoes). Today was a nice slow five mile run in the park (my first run in the park since Big Sur!). And it’s going to be my last until the end of the week… I’m taking three days off for this new eating plan I’m trying out. More details tomorrow. 🙂

What’s the worst travel experience you’ve ever had? Have you ever run through the airport to catch a flight?

How did you celebrate Cinco de Mayo? We had margaritas and nachos at home! YUM 🙂
