Last night I came home to some super fun packages, which always brightens up my day.
My first was a Boston Strong headband from BIC Bands.
One of my besties, Casey, surprised me with this which is so sweet. All proceeds for these bands benefit those in Boston. So awesome!
Sincerely Nuts (best company name ever) also sent me some goodies:
C introduced me to pecan pie (definitely a southern thing) and now I’m obsessed. I totally want to try to make one with these fresh pecans this weekend. Let’s hope it works out…
Remember when I posted a brief outline of what my runs would look like this week?
- Sunday: 5 miles
- Monday: Rest day
- Tuesday: 6 miles
- Wednesday: 5 miles
- Thursday: 3 miles
- Friday: Rest day
Um yep, definitely didn’t happen like that.
So Sunday I ended up running to Target and back (about 2 miles) because I wanted to get C’s birthday gift. (I feel like such a horrible wife having to get it the day before his birthday… I used to have it all planned weeks in advance! Oh what New York will do to you…)
Instead, I ran 5 miles on Monday, took yesterday as a rest day and then ran 4 miles today. The four miles felt good, it’s nice and overcast outside which is awesome for running in especially if there’s no humidity to go along with it.
I am starting to wonder if I should be concerned that my last “long” distance run was Big Sur Marathon, which was about three weeks ago. That could make the Brooklyn Half quite interesting. Which brings me to my goal to PR. Can I do this?! Will this be out of my reach? Or will being a slacker for the past few weeks play to my advantage since I’ll have super rested legs…?
The most important thing for me is to enjoy the ride. This is the third year that I’ll be running this race and it’s always a fun one (minus the last few miles which are always in beating down sun, but what can you do).
Time to go register for Houston Marathon 2014!
