Even though medical professionals won’t admit it, the Monday blues are a very real thing. Symptoms include lack of energy, no motivation and a desire to stay in bed all day.
But unfortunately that can’t happen 98% of the time. And even as tough as it is to get out of bed, there is no better way to start the week than with a strong workout. Luckily a strong workout doesn’t have to mean a long workout.
The first step before getting your sweat on is to make sure you are dressed the right way. I don’t know about you, but if I am excited about getting in my workout gear, it makes it just that much easier to get up and get going.
I recently had the opportunity to try some new gear from Puma, including its new FormLite XT Ultra shoe:
Even though they have minimalistic shoe features (inspired by feathers!), they also have rubber pods in the midsole that offer superior cushioning, comfort and stability. I wore these to run a few times and they were really comfortable and light. I tend to feel arch pain after running in minimalist shoes, but I didn’t experience that at all with these. Score!
Puma also recently launched it’s compression line:
Called ACTV technology, it is designed for the best fit and to work with how your body naturally moves during working out. I absolutely love the fit of these… the tank was super flowy and light and combined with the bright capris, made for a perfect outfit on those not-too-hot days.
So once you have your gear figured out, it’s time for your workout. And I have the perfect 20 minute workout for you… it’s quick, easy and fun (when is the last time you got to jump rope as exercise? It will make you feel like a second grader… promise):
With a combination of cardio and strength training, you hit all muscle groups for a sweat sesh that gets you moving — BONUS: all without making it seem like too much to conquer on a Monday.
How do you beat the Monday blues? Do you find that it’s tougher to work out on a Monday?
Do you find comfortable, fun gear helps you stay motivated to work out?
