Sometimes you have to fail at a diet in order to find the one that works for you.
Sometimes you have to work an emotionally draining job to find that perfect opportunity.
Sometimes you have to try a sport to learn that there’s another one that you love.
Sometimes you have to live in different locations to learn what type of life you want.
Sometimes you have to try a food that you hate to find a combination that you love.
Sometimes you have to go through the pain to appreciate the joy.
I think sometimes it’s hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel, to stay determined when we’ve faced so much adversity. But the bad things are what make us appreciate the good.
So that terrible, no good, awful run that you just had? It’s not a sign that running is not for you. It’s a sign that you need to learn from it and build on the experience so that you can have that great run.
Instead of giving up — on whatever it may be — look at the situation and think about what you don’t like… and whether there is one (or more things) that you do. Take this and build on it… look for the opportunity where you can strip the bad things and keep the good, seeing how you can apply it elsewhere. We all have our princes out there, it’s just a matter of finding them.
Where in your life have you found your prince?
What’s an area in your life where you are still trying to find your prince?
