One of my favorite holiday movies is “Elf”!   Seriously, it makes me laugh. Every. Single. Time. I actually watched it twice in one day a few weeks ago. #SorryNotSorry

Anyways, I think there is a lot we can learn from Buddy.

Do not try to hug a raccoon. It will end badly. Instead, I recommend that you hug a creature that looks like a raccoon. Like this guy:

I just like to smile. Smiling’s my favorite. If more people followed this, the world would be a better place. Smiling is quite awesome, and like I said on Monday, it will help you feel better if you just do it.

As Buddy learned (and well, I did too), there are people who are very critical of others who like to smile. But who cares, just use Buddy’s line if anyone cares to be rude about it.

Standing up for what you believe in. We should always stand up for what we believe in… but I think as we get older, it gets harder to do that with some things. And that just isn’t right. Buddy definitely stands up for what he believes in…

…even if it is just to say that it isn’t the real Santa Claus. But he shows us that no matter how ridiculous we may think it is, we must stand up for our beliefs.

That candy is a food group. Along with candy corns.

I think this is self-explanatory.

Spaghetti can be eaten for all meals.  Yes, it can. I have had spaghetti for breakfast (but never tried it with syrup… that could be interesting).

C thinks it’s nasty, but seriously, leftover Italian makes the best breakfast (including lasagna and pizza). My family is also notorious for eating dessert (pie, cake, etc.) at breakfast. Is it a Wisconsin thing? Or just a Johnson thing?

Coffee is gross.

Ooh yes, I have never gotten on this bandwagon. Despite early days at work and hours of meetings, I just cannot handle the taste of this. I can do some of the specialty drinks at Starbucks… an occasional cappuccino. (I really do love Vanilla Latte from CLICK Espresso Protein Powder… I just think when you mix it with coconut milk, it doesn’t have a coffee flavor at all!)

Instead I like to tap a drink that I know I should not drink… Mountain Dew. #YOLO

And most importantly… the holiday season is a magical time of year. No matter what you believe, no matter how you celebrate it, this time of year is like no other. It is filled with time-tested traditions, it is filled with a magic that you just can’t really explain. So whatever you do, find a way to honor and cherish these days… take a moment to look up at the sky, to touch a snowflake, to sing along with your favorite tune. Whatever it is, make sure you do it with a smile.

Are you a Buddy the Elf fan?
