For the first time in a long time, I don’t really have any races on my calendar.

My next race will be the Houston Marathon in January…

I will be running the ZOOMA Texas Half Marathon in April (join me! save with code TXAMB7).

And after that, I am running the NYC Marathon thanks to winning guaranteed entry in a random giveaway last November.

But, what else should I run? Being new to Austin, I have heard that there are some fun races down here. And some that I would definitely like to add to my race calendar.

Here are some races that I am considering.

1. Austin Marathon

This race is in February, only a few weeks after the Houston Marathon. I think it would be fun to attempt two back-to-back-ish marathons agains (to do a better job than what I did with Wineglass to NYC). Plus how can you not run your hometown marathon?!

2. Texas Independence 5k Run

Since I live in Texas, I better learn the history… right? Apparently there has been a race in Austin that celebrates Texas’ Independence. It’s in early March, which would mean perfect weather for a 5k.

3. Austin 10/20

I have heard SO much about this race. It’s a 10 mile race in Austin in April that has 20 different bands along the course. How awesome does that sound? This is one of the top races I want to add to my race calendar.

4. Keep Austin Weird 5k

Since it’ll be June, I don’t think I can run longer than a 5k. This sounds like a good fit… and a good excuse to wear bright, weird clothing combinations. I can’t believe registration is already open (and only $20!)

5. Packers 5k

Last year it worked out that our family vacation was around the time of the Packers 5k

I had so much fun running with my nephew and hope we get to run it again this year!

6. Frankenthon Monster Marathon

This sounds like such a fun race. It is capped at 150 runners so not big at all, but I have learned that the “no frills” races can be the most fun sometimes. The only thing, it is one week before NYC Marathon… not sure how that would make my legs feel. 🙂

7. Trail of Lights 5k

I’m SO bummed that I missed out on this race this year. It is run along the Trail of Lights in Austin and is a night event. It sounds so festive! Definitely hitting the top of my race list for 2014.

8. HITS Multi-Sport

This race sounds super cool! You race on Circuit of the Americas track in Austin. There are a variety of distances that are available so that makes it even more fun.

Those are just a few of the ones I’m eyeing up in Austin. Of course, there are some races outside of Austin that have caught my eye… and well, I would love to finally do an adventure or mud run this year. There are just way too many races to choose from… I guess that’s a good thing!

What races do you have on your 2014 calendar?

Any “dream” races that you want to race next year?
