Excited to introduce you to another awesome health and fitness blogger through Faces of Fitness!
This week’s feature is Megan from The Skinny Life. She is new to the blogging world and has an amazing story… she lost 80 POUNDS! Incredible… anyways, let’s bring her some thunder! 🙂
Where to Find The Skinny Life
1. Tell us a little bit more about your blog.
My blog is called The Skinny-Life. The name represents what it’s like to walk in my footsteps now after losing 80 pounds three years ago. I’ve never been skinny, happy or most importantly, confident in myself until now. I want to document my life how it is happier, healthier & fitter as a result of my weight-loss. Most importantly, I want others to see the confidence I gain in myself through weight-loss.
2. What inspired you to start your blog?
I started my blog because I want to motivate others. An overwhelming number of people (friends and strangers) started asking me how I lost 80 pounds in a year. I realized blogging was an opportunity to share my past & future journey with others to inspire them in their own weight-loss journeys. I suffered a severe leg injury 14 years ago & doctors told me I would not be walking within a few months. Today I’m doing several half marathons every year. I am a miracle & if I can overcome the odds so can others.
3. What is your favorite way to get your sweat on?
My favorite fitness is walking/running outdoors & enjoying the Arizona desert. You will never find me on a treadmill. A surprising fact for people, I lost the majority of my weight simply by walking. I feel the impact of walking is underestimated as a way to get fit. This past year spinning has come into competition with my walks/runs. But I believe walking will be my go-to fitness for life.
4. How do you find time to fit exercise into your schedule?
My consulting work & travel force me to be super organized. I schedule fitness like any other appointment & it’s non-negotiable, as is eating & sleeping. I workout first thing in the morning. This guarantees I will get my fitness time without risk of interruption or excuse.
5. What is your number one tip for people to stay motivated to reach their health/fitness goals?
Believe in yourself! Weight-loss is as much mental as physical. It is an investment in yourself & believing in yourself is the first step.
