This week, I am excited to feature Clarinda from Enjoying the Course. I love her insightful posts and upbeat outlook. Enjoy!
1. Why did you start blogging?
Honestly, I started blogging because it was the new things to do back in 2006. 🙂 I wanted my own little space to share my thoughts and whatnot. Then in 2012, I decided to focus my blog more on running and living a healthy lifestyle. I wanted to use my blog to motivate myself to become a bit healthier and share my experiences with my readers.
2. What do you love about running?
I love so much about running! I love that you can really push yourself or you can take it easy. It can really become your sport and whatever you want to make it. I also love running for the bragging rights. Just telling someone I ran XX miles over the weekend is enough to make me beam. Perhaps that’s not a great reason to love running, but it’s true. I can’t forget to mention the running community. So welcoming! Especially in the blogosphere. Runners seem to be instinctively supportive. 🙂
3. What is one mantra that keeps you going?
My favorite is: The voice in your head that says you can’t do this is a liar. I think that we, at times, can mentally be our own worst enemies. We sometimes need reminding that we are stronger than we might think.
4. What are your goals for 2014? How are you making them happen?
My running goal for the year is to get faster. I’d love to achieve a sub-25:00 5k. I’m trying to incorporate speed work and strength training into my weekly workouts to help me get there. Strength training in general is another one of my goals for the year. I really want nicely sculpted arms and abs, so I’m trying to focus on those areas in particular.
5. What is your number one tip for people to stay motivated to reach their health/fitness goals?
Find something you love and do that. Obviously, for me that is running, but it might be something else for you. If you find something you love, it will seem like less of a chore and you’ll look more forward to doing it.
