Last night I had an awesome opportunity to go see Jillian Michaels here in Austin as part of her “Maximize Your Life” tour.



I absolutely LOVE Jillian. I know some people think she is too tough, but her hard-ass personality gets it done. To have her as a trainer… would be amazing. I would probably cry… from the pain. 

Anyways, her tour breaks down three important parts of life — food, exercise and self. Throughout her show, she talks about all of the topics. She admits that the stuff she’s talking about isn’t mind blowing… after all, it’s stuff that we’ve heard our entire life. 

What I loved about it, even though I’ve heard it a million times, is she broke it down into a way that was like “huh, that makes sense.” Even though I’ve heard it a million times before, the way Jillian talked about it, it made me more incentivized to go for it. If that makes sense. 

On to exercise… She totally didn’t believe the few of us who raised our hands when she asked who loved to exercise. 😉 But that’s a topic for another day. 

My favorite part of the show was when she talked about self. She didn’t talk about how you need to get motivated to work out, or how it takes discipline, or any other blah blah thing you’ve ever heard to get you to exercise.

I don’t want to give the show away to you, but she talked about finding the “why” in your life. Which was a really interesting perspective to look at things… especially when you look at exercise.

For many people, there’s a deeper reason than “so I’m healthy” to work out. It might be because you don’t want to follow in your parents footsteps of dying at a young age.

Perhaps its because you want to fit in those skinny jeans. Or maybe you just want to give yourself a 20 minute break from life and focus on YOU. Whatever it is, there is something… and finding that “something” will help you find your reason to work out (or anything else in your life) and be successful at it. 

There are only a few more dates left for Jillian’s “Maximize Your Life” tour… and if you can, GO. It’s definitely worth the price.
