Yesterday I got to experience my first commute in the rain. OK, if you haven’t heard by now, one of the big issues in Austin is its traffic. This is something that we knew before we moved down here… basically the infrastructure hasn’t kept up with all the people who moved into the city, so if you drive and don’t run into any traffic, there must be pigs flying.
Anyways, I always heard that when it starts to rain, that traffic issue gets a million times worse because people freak out. So, my work is about 20 minutes north of our house. Most days.
Thank goodness for country music because otherwise I probably would not have made it through. For some reason, country music keeps me from getting all ragey on the road?
That being said, I am so happy that today didn’t involve a 6 a.m. alarm. 🙂
I have been getting up at 6 a.m. to run before work and (let me complain for a minute), it’s so hard. I used to do this everyday in NYC, but slacked once we moved down to TX since I was funemployed. Anyways, now it’s building my body up again… and I’m remembering how much I hate waking up in the morning.
I am SO not a morning person.
Hopefully, with time, the 6 a.m. will become more of a friend… and in the meantime, I guess I have some anger to run out for those first few minutes of my run every day.
So, who else has issues with waking up early? What do you do to motivate yourself to just GET UP when the alarm goes off?
Anyone else’s city have terrible traffic issues? What keeps you calm? 🙂
