As you know, one of my goals for this year is to read a book a month. So far… I’ve been pretty OK at doing it. I missed one month, but read three books in April. Right now, I’m finally getting into the book I bought in Australia —
Anyways, I think summer is one of the best times of year to read. Nothing like propping up outside in a comfy chair and letting the pages turn…
I have a long list of books that I want to check out this summer:
The House at Midnight by Lucie Whitehouse
I saw this book when we were in Australia and it immediately jumped to the top of my wishlist for books to read… it sounds like a really good creepy thriller type book… something that will (hopefully) draw you in and keep you engaged. LOVE books like that.
Beach Music by Pat Conroy
I actually became interested in reading this after seeing it posted as a top recommendation on several Facebook posts… figured it was worth a shot. I bought a used book off Amazon and couldn’t resist the $3 price tag. Excited to see what it’s all about.
On the Road to Find Out by Rachel Toor
Let’s be honest, this wouldn’t be a running blog without a mention of some sort of running book I want to read this summer. I actually have quite a few on my list about this subject, but this one tops it! I can’t wait to check this one out.
Divergent by Veronica Roth
Now that this is a movie, I have even more of a reason to want to read this. I almost always try to read a book before seeing the movie (even if that means the movie makes me super mad since it never follows along or does the book justice).
Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin
So I’ve only had 387 people tell me that I need to read this book and try out the series. I want to give it a shot… we’ll see. I say that because I’m nervous it’s not my typical type of book. Will I like it? I am not sure. I guess you’ll never know unless you try.
The Silent Sister by Diane Chamberlain
My sister has been telling me to read Diane Chamberlain for what seems like ever… and I am committing to finally giving it a shot this summer! Her books sound like a mix between Nicholas Sparks and Jodi Picoult. She has a TON, so I think I’d be happy ready any one of them sometime over the next few months.
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
I won this book in a giveaway on Goodreads a few years ago before it was officially released and fell in love. It is an amazing love and fantasy storyline… you can’t help but get lost in the story and think you are watching the circus live. Rumor has it they are turning it into a movie.
Even though I’ve read it a bunch of times, this one is always on my list as one to read… so good.
What about you? Favorite time of year to read?
What’s on your summer reading list? Are you a Kindle/e-reader type of person?
