Sundays are meant to be lazy, right?
MONDAY: Hills! ~ 3.00 miles
It was a humid morning (which btw, all you Austinites lied when you said it doesn’t get humid here) with a lot of cloud cover, so I knew the hill workout was going to be challenging… at least by my standards. I added another hill to the mix — so I did a total of 6 — and felt my pace a little bit faster than it usually is, so that was a bonus given the humidity.
I somehow managed to make it through the 4-way stop in the middle of the hill without having to stop for traffic once. I think that’s an added bit of skill.
TUESDAY: Track day ~ Ladder Workout ~ 4.72 miles
This was another one of those track days where I started to think I was insane because it was so hot. It was in the high 80s, but with the sun beating down and no clouds in sight, it felt way hotter.
I did a new workout this week, a ladder workout —> details here.
It was a lot harder than I expected. For some reason, I thought having the shorter distances would make this work out my friend, but it definitely did not. I pushed through and made it… and can’t believe I was begging for some 400s in place of those. Two more weeks of this workout!
WEDNESDAY: Alter-G Experience ~ 3.1 miles
In case you missed it, I had the chance to run on the Alter G this week, which kinda messed up my training plans, but that’s OK.
My legs were so beat from this run that I knew it would take a few days to recover. I opted to switch my usual rest day from Wednesday to Thursday… and also knew that I would have a few less miles this week since I only went three miles on the Alter G.
FRIDAY: New boardwalk run!! (easy) ~ 3.26 miles
I seriously need to grab my phone one of these days when I hit the new boardwalk in Austin, because the views are amazing. I decided to run this “backwards” and head towards downtown and loved all the views I got in the process. My legs were still beat from the Alter G so I took it nice and slow.
Yep, today was supposed to be a long run day. My alarm went off, I turned it off, and went back to sleep. Normally I would be mad at myself about this type of thing, but this week I was okay with it.
I was exhausted. And in need of some sleep. So I opted for some of that training.
It’s all good. This is “pre” marathon training days and far more than I’ve ever done when I’m not training for anything, so I’m proud of where I am. And there will be those days where things won’t go according to plan, and that’s okay.
How was your week? Did you do anything exciting?
What are you looking forward to this week?
