Yesterday I was surfin’ the web like nobody’s boss and came across a new documentary that was released this week called “Fed Up.”
Have you guys heard about this?
Here’s the trailer:
Every time I watch the trailer, it gives me chills because the facts are so erie.
>>> 1 out of 3 Americans will have diabetes by time 2050 rolls around.
>>> In the next two decades, 95% of Americans will either be overweight or obese.
I cannot wait to watch this movie (hopefully next week) and give you guys a full report. I love the twist they are taking on this movie — focusing on how the government has its hand in causing this issue.
I mean, take a look at what Harvard School of Public Health released for what the healthy eating plate should look like:
Compared to the USDA’s MyPlate:
Harvard states in the article that “The USDA’s pyramids and MyPlate had many contributors. Some are obvious—USDA scientists, nutrition experts, staff members, and consultants. Others aren’t. Intense lobbying efforts from a variety of food industries also helped shape the pyramid and the plate.“
So, sadly, what it comes down to is money. Money over the health and future of our nation. Until we can get the greedy paws of various industries out of the health and nutrition decisions, this will be our future.
What do you think about the “Fed Up” documentary?
What do you think can be done to prevent the obesity epidemic?
