Do you think it’s time to start freaking about the weather for Sunday’s marathon yet?
Running in a little bit of rain doesn’t worry me… what worries me is the thunderstorms because I think they have to cancel the race if there is lightning. Which would be the worst (especially for those people who had this race canceled on them last year due to weather). How can we convince Mother Nature that she needs to be nicer to marathoners?
One of my favorites to make this time of year — dirty snowballs.
These are super easy to make if you are looking for a holiday dessert recipe! They do take a little bit of time. What you need:
- 1 package Oreos
- 1 package cream cheese
- 1 pound white almond bark
You take the package of Oreos and crush them into fine pieces… it takes a bit of work, but it’s interesting how the frosting on the inside of the cookie just kinda crumbles and becomes part of the crumbs. Once you have that done, mix it with cream cheese (I do this with my hands because its easier). Stick it in the fridge for about 30 minutes to let it cool.
Once done, roll them into little bit size bites. I put them on waxed paper on a cookie sheet because you’ll need to freeze them for about an hour before you had the almond bark.
After an hour, start heating up the almond bark on the stovetop and once you have a smooth consistency, drop the snowballs in and coat with the almond bark. They won’t come out perfect (which was hard for me to adjust to the first time I did it!), but that’s part of the fun. They are definitely a hit (and people love the name).
So, last night on FB, one of my friends tagged me in a picture… I was quoted in Runner’s World! They were asking people what the craziest things were that they did in order to keep the running streak alive (I’m not doing one this year, but I’ve done it in the past):
Yep, the craziness has officially been captured.
Have you ever had a race canceled due to the weather?
