I can’t remember ever being this sore from a marathon before in the past. It’s crazy! I cramped up really bad at the finish line and my calf is still really angry about that.

Last night we made it back from CA at around 10 p.m. and this morning, I was up at 4:30 a.m. headed back to the airport for a quick trip for work to Pittsburgh. When I get back tomorrow around 10:00 p.m., I will have spent 20 hours at home in the past 8 days. Woof. I’ll be excited for some good sleep in my bed over the next few weeks. πŸ™‚

Anyways, I had a bold goal of having a recap ready and up today but let’s be real… time just was not on my side. So instead, a few highlights!

If you don’t follow me on Instagram (whaaat?), I finished the Santa Rosa Marathon in 3:34.08. I was aiming for a sub-3:30 but somehow fell apart physically in the last 10 miles or so (I think the two miles of rolling hills around mile 12 killed me) and managed to stay there mentally to get a BQ, which I am so overjoyed with.

As I mentioned a few times last week, my mental fitness has NOT been something I’ve been good at controlling. In Dallas, I had a pace team pass me in the high teens and I was just done. Gave up, put a pin in it, not going to happen. I am personally SO proud of myself for hanging on and pushing myself to a BQ (even if it did make me seem like a crazy person mid-race… more on that in the recap). The 3:33 pacers passed me around mile 24.5 and I tried hard to stick with them, but my body had other thoughts. Anyways, I pushed myself to get a sub-3:35 because I knew I would be SO PISSED at myself if that wasn’t the case.

So, I did it.
