I had every intention in the world of writing a blog post yesterday, but it just didn’t happen. Yesterday was a testament to the idea of fitting it all in and not succeeding a 100% of the time. 

But let’s back up. 

My coworker (we started on the same day and sit next to each other) celebrated his birthday on Wednesday and obviously, the only way to do that is to play some bingo.



It’s been a few years since I played bingo and it was just as fun as I remembered. I always love seeing the mix of people who show up for bingo night. It’s especially crazy and random in Texas because gambling is illegal here, but somehow bingo halls make it because they give their money to charity (I think that’s how it works). But anyways, it was a good time and by time I got home, it was time for bed. 

So of course, I was going to have PLENTY of time to write my awesome Thursday blog post all about bingo and other fun stuff happening after my run yesterday morning. Alarm set at 5 a.m., and GO. 


It hasn’t happened in a long time, but I completely slept through my alarm and woke up right after 7 a.m., flashing between disappointment and disgust in myself for missing my run. 



I’ve never been a morning person — I remember my mom used to have to come in my room in the morning before school and flash the lights, rip off the covers and basically annoy me until I would get out of bed. And half the time, that wouldn’t even work. I converted to a morning runner when I lived in NYC because there was no way I was ever going to keep up with my running if I had to go after work. 

I had plenty of relapses in NYC — so many days where I would sleep through the alarm, or simply wake up and go back to bed. I have been pretty good since then, mostly because in a weird way, I always feel like I have more energy if I get up and run versus if I sleep in til 7 a.m. and skip it for the day. 

So anyways, I was super disappointed in myself by the fact that I failed. And skipped my run for the day. 

And then I told myself to get over it. If I slept in, my body probably needed it. I’ve been super sore this week (which is why I’m excited to give this stuff a try) from running and OTF, so a break was probably a good thing. Besides, if that’s my biggest worry in life, things aren’t that bad, right?
