So, if you heard the news, this weekend we were covered in a big old rain cloud thanks to Hurricane Patricia.
I stay trued to myself and did not run at all last week. Proud of myself! I think my legs finally stopped hurting by Friday, but I’m sure my muscles were still tired.
Tomorrow, I will adventure out for my first post-marathon run. Woo!
My next marathon is only 12 weeks away so that means I need to think about getting back into training pretty soon. I will probably take this week easy and start hitting it hard next week once again.
I’ve learned some things during my week of not running:
> Insomnia sucks. Friday night, I was awake for three or four hours and it was the WORST. I never wake up at night when I’m running, mostly because I can barely keep my eyes open by 8 p.m. So, waking up and not being able to fall asleep? Sucks. I’m sorry for all of you who suffer this on a daily basis!
>> Drinking a lot of water is hard. Funny thing is, when you are working out and running a lot, you crave water… or at least I know I do. Without that, I’m not as thirsty and it was hard to get my water in for the day, even though I tried.
>> Sleeping in actually makes you more tired. I slept in until 7:30 a.m. every single day last week and it was SO hard to get up and I was usually still sleepy by mid-morning. Even though I get up earlier to run, I feel like I had more energy once I got back and it kept me feeling good for most of the day.
>> Your life doesn’t revolve around food. During training, hanger is a daily thing and it happens a lot. It was kinda nice not to have freak out moments when you forgot your snacks for the day. 🙂
