Today is our last day in Louisiana before we head back to Texas for the rest of our holiday vacation. I will post more about all of our adventures tomorrow, but for now:

YES, we saw an alligator! In the wild! Of course, we picked the worst weather day to do so (it was only in the 50s, and they tend to only be active in 70+ weather) so it was quite the hunt. More on that later.

For now, let’s talk about goals. I have realized over the past few years that my goal-setting abilities are not the best. There was the time that I set 13 goals in one year. 13 major goals, to be clear.

This year, I scaled back quite a bit and thought I was getting smarter at goal setting, but to be honest… still wasn’t as successful as I would have loved. I think in all, I hit 2 out of 7 goals and made some progress on each.

I think in 2016, I’m going to look at it from a different perspective. Yes, I am going to set goals and aim to hit them because I think it’s super important to have goals and a path for you to follow in life. I feel like without that or some major bucket list items, I would just be wandering and I know that I wouldn’t be happy with myself if that was the case.

So, instead of just throwing out a bunch of random stuff (because they are pretty random, I must admit), for 2016… I want to focus on a word. I want to focus on bettering myself in one particular area by challenging myself with one theme in mind.

This theme, I’m thinking, will feed the other areas. I like to do a variety of things (run, travel, craft) so of course, I do think it makes sense to have goals in each of those areas. But just not overwhelming or overextending myself in the process.

The word? To be revealed on New Year’s Eve. Stay tuned.

How have you done on your 2015 goals? Do you overextend yourself?

Any tips for goal setting?
