Each year on December 31, I say the same thing:

I cannot believe how fast this year went!

Someone once told me a great analogy when it comes to years. Life is like a roll of toilet paper, the closer you get to the end the faster it goes. And I completely agree with that! I am definitely nowhere near the end, but years tend to fly by faster than ever before.

I’ve talked quite a bit about my goals the past few days for this year and how I flopped (again). Instead of focusing on what I didn’t accomplish, I’m going to talk about what I DID do and that I’m proud of for this year:

Ran some awesome marathons, including the Houston Marathon, Boston Marathon, Santa Rosa Marathon and Hill Country Marathon.

…and met Meb again (seriously, nearing stalker status here).

FINALLY set a big PR… at the 5k

Convinced my sister to run a half marathon and she joined me at the ZOOMA Texas Half Marathon and finished her FIRST!

Representing Brooks as a RunHappy Ambassador and traveling to Seattle to see headquarters and meet some other awesome bloggers!

Finished reading six books!
She’s Losing It  |  Racing Weight  |  Meb for Mortals  |  Out There  | The Girl on the Train  | Good in Bed

Went on some fun adventures, including cheering on my super speedy Kelly at CIM Marathon, Thanksgiving in Denver, hiking in Utah and checking out the wildlife in South Dakota

Tried some new things… like playing footgolf and meeting Darth Vader!

Paid off one credit card (break out the champagne!) and added some tools to my saving strategy with Digit

This year I also learned a lot about life. I’ve learned that it’s a quest, and for me, it’s a quest to find happiness in each and every moment. There have been a lot of unhappy moments this year and I am looking forward to what 2016 has to bring because I believe (the eternal optimist in me) that you need the sadness to appreciate and recognize the happiness.

So, adios 2015 and hello 2016!

What are you proud of in 2015? What are you looking forward to in 2016?

Was 2015 a thumbs up or thumbs down year for you? What are you doing to celebrate New Year’s?
