Happy happy Monday! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend. Mine was great for a few reasons. First, a pretty sweet run and barre class on Saturday (more on that later). BUT, it also marks the end of the detox I started last Monday.
I am SO proud of myself for making it through, and with some of the results I saw and felt (felt definitely trumps any other). More on all of that tomorrow.
Also, I finally made it to a Texas Stars hockey game here in Austin. It’s been on my list to go for a few years, and it was a lot of fun! Especially since we kinda dominated. 😉
So, it’s that time: update on last week’s workouts. I am headed out on a trip for my birthday this weekend, so as soon as I get back, I’ll be kicking off some marathon training. I am so excited to get back into it, especially with a renewed focus on my nutrition — something I’ve never really been good at it in the past. Working for that sub-3:30!
10 miles! My super speedy friend Kelly was in town and naturally, we had to do a run together. We hit up the Lady Bird Lake Hike & Bike Trail for a nice 10 mile run. I love running miles with friends!
Orangetheory Fitness… I was mostly pumped to go to wear my new tank — “You might not believe in ghosts, but they believe in you.” I was a little worried for this class, since it was the first day of the detox, but it was fine! I didn’t want to be that person that totally passes out mid-stride on the treadmill…
Rest day 🙂 What I’m trying to do is to have at least one complete rest day a week, and one rest running day on an Orangetheory day.
5 miles. I was dragging — the no carbs for the week was really starting to take affect. I ran at a slower pace as an easy run… I’m excited to start switching things up and adding some harder paces in the next few weeks.
Recovery 3 miles! I had to make a last minute change to my OTF class and wasn’t able to get in (boo), so I just ran a quick three miles in the AM. I also joined a flag football team with my company and we had practice on Thursday night, that counts right? I actually caught a few balls…while running…too!
Rest day 🙂 So instead, I got up early and went to the grocery store. Do you know how nice it is to go to the grocery store at 6:30 a.m.?! It’s pretty amazing.
A solid 10 miles on the trail. I didn’t have a lot of energy since I hadn’t been eating any carbs last week, but I was still super pumped for my pace. A great long run to start marathon training!
I followed this class with a barre class. I haven’t taken a barre class since back in NYC, but The Barre Code is opening in Austin and hosted a free pop-up barre class. Yep, my hip muscles are super weak and need some help. Austin friends: They are going to have a few other pop-up classes over the next few weeks, so definitely check them out on Facebook so you can get in on the action!
Overall, it was a pretty solid workout week — 28 miles total! This week isn’t going to be as productive because… birthday. 🙂 But that’s OK, sometimes you just have to enjoy life.
And lastly, a favorite quote for some extra motivation in your Monday…
Have a great one! 🙂 P.S. In case you missed it –> I have an awesome giveaway going on right now that you need to enter HERE!
