The weekend is just around the corner and I’m so excited to try my “something new” this month… a trail half marathon!

Although I suppose I could count this from last night:

St. Patrick's Day | Green Beer

Yes, the first time I had green beer! It’s… weird. And I still have a green stain on my hand from whatever they use to turn it green. I haven’t been out on St. Patrick’s Day in like, ever, and it was fun to see everyone dressed up in all their green!

I always feel like St. Patrick’s Day marks that time of year: spring. Living in the midwest, spring was always fun because it was like we were finally coming out of the deep thaw of winter. But the weather can be so unpredictable and you really don’t know what to expect… which can be super annoying for your runs!

Unless you have the right spring running gear, of course! Today I’m linking up with Courtney at Eat Pray Run DC to share my favorite finds for spring running.

5 pieces of spring running gear you must own

Must-have spring running gear | Crazy Running Girl

1. Look Human Tanks

Look Human | Oh My Quad Becky, Look at Her Squat

Warmer weather means we can finally wear less layers. That also means our running outfits just got a lot more fun! I LOVE these Look Human tanks. They aren’t that expensive and they have some great sayings. I do have one that did have a misspelling on it (a word repeated twice), but that happens and if you read it quickly, it’s not that noticeable. This is the next one I want to get!

2. Brooks Greenlight Running Capris

Brooks Greenlight Running Capri

I love wearing these Brooks Greenlight Running Capris, both for running outside and for Orangetheory workouts. They are BRIGHT, which is one of the reasons why I love them. I like to wear capris for spring running because shorts are a little too cold, pants are definitely too hot — and capris give you just enough warmth and a little breeziness so you don’t get too hot.

3. Trucker Hat!

Headsweats Trucker Hat

I have fallen in LOVE with trucker hats for my running life and real life. They are SO comfortable and I love to wear them in the rain. I wear contacts, and they help keep the water out of my eyes because I hate the way my contacts feel if they have rain pelting them. They are also a great way to keep the sun out of your eyes!

Headsweats recently launched trucker hats (at The Running Event last year!) and they some cool designs, like this one. I saw that they might be coming out with a Marathon Maniacs one and can’t wait for that one!

4. Manda Bees Headbands

Manda Bees Headbands

For those colder morning runs, I like to wear Manda Bees headbands to keep my ears warm. They also work great on hot weather days (which we’ve already had this spring in Austin, ugh). Because they are wider, they keep the flyaways out of my face and also the sweat. Sweat dripping in the eyes? So not fun.

5. Lip Balm

Good lip balm is a necessity in the spring. The wind, the rain, the cold weather, the hot weather, the sun… all of it adds up to super dry lips and this is one of my biggest pet peeves. I HATE dry lips. I really like Burt’s Bees lip balm because it tastes good and actually works. Plus it’s easy to shove in a pocket and bring with you on a long run for when you need it!
