Hey there Wednesday! Before I get into today’s post, I have to share my experience with Jrink –> my coworker told me about this yesterday afternoon, and we had some free time so we hiked to the closest store and indulged on some fresh juice.

Jrink | Crazy Running Girl

It was so delicious! A little on the pricey side, but hey, after hearing so much about it, it was definitely worth it. And, it’s so crazy, but Jrink uses FIVE pounds of fruit and veggies in each juice. FIVE! Insane. If you are ever in the DC area and need an extra boost of nutrients, definitely check it out!

But today marks another edition of Running Coaches’ Corner… if you haven’t stopped by on Wednesday recently, it’s a new link up from yours truly, Debbie, Rachel and Susie where we share tips and info to help you hit your running goals. This month, we are focusing on Summer Runnin’. Yeah, it’s hard to believe that summer is just around the corner and in Austin, we’re already getting into those hot summer temps… something that always makes running a little bit more of a challenge.

5 reasons to love summer running | Crazy Running Girl

That being said, there are some things that I love about summer running. So today, I’m sharing my favorites!

1. Better weather (usually).

FINALLY, no more crazy weather patterns with insane storms and for you northerners, snowstorms. My favorite thing about summer running is that the weather is dependable. You know it’s going to be hot. It’s not as bad if you run in the morning, but at least you don’t have to worry about delaying or abandoning your run completely for crazy weather (yes, there are still summer storms… but I feel like they are crazier here in the spring).

2. Harder workouts.

I am not good in hot weather, so running in hotter temps generally means harder workouts all the way around. Yeah, OK, I sound a little crazy saying that I actually LIKE how hard it is to run in the summer months… but I like it in the way that I know that it makes me a stronger runner. My body has to work a lot harder to maintain the same pace that I can do in cooler weather, and for that, I love summer running a little bit more.

3. A new wardrobe to bring back to life.

After hiding out in my closet for oh, the past five months or so, it feels like I just hit the running wardrobe jackpot when I can finally break out my summer running gear! I swear, my tanks just duplicate themselves during the winter months because I always uncover new ones that I forgot that I had in my closet.

4. An excuse to actually get my water intake in.

I don’t know about you, but I always suffer a little bit in the winter months for getting my water intake in for the day (I usually aim for about half my body weight in ounces in water for the day), especially on days when I don’t work out. I usually down 32 ounces right after a workout in summer weather, and it makes it much easier to get the rest throughout the day vs. only drinking 10 ounces after a run and having to figure out how to chug the rest.

5. Watermelon and grapes.

Basically, this can be any summer fruit… but my two favorite to refuel after a run are definitely watermelon and grapes! I didn’t have nearly enough watermelon last summer, so I am changing that this time around (which will make Jax happy too since it’s his favorite, weirdo).

What do you love about summer running? What’s your favorite summer fruit?
