Hey there from Oregon! Today is my last day adventuring around this beautiful state before I return back to reality. We have had such an awesome weekend here for the Destination Races Oregon Wine Half Marathon, and adventured far beyond just running the race.

In addition to the race (which was my 14th half marathon… whaaat!), we spent a lot of time exploring the local wineries here in Oregon. I did not know that the wine country was so strong in this area; I have always heard about Oregon wines but wow, there are a TON of different wineries to check out. This is the first time I ever did a wine tasting at an actual winery, so more on that too!

After our race, we spent some time celebrating (even though we were at a wine festival, I managed to find some beer).

And then spent the rest of the day recovering from the race by watching the Olympics and the gorgeous sunset, of course.

Because it’s not enough to run a half marathon in hilly wine country —> we ventured out for a hike on Sunday. We met some other people at the race who recommended that we head to Horsetail Falls and it was absolutely beautiful:

I have more pictures to share, so more on that later, too! As my last day here in Oregon, we are doing some brewery tours before I head to the airport for my afternoon flight. I am excited to see what beer Portland has to offer because I’ve always heard that they have an amazing selection. 

 

 

Twin Cities Marathon Training Week #3 Recap

I can’t believe it, we are only about 8 weeks out until the race! It seems like it came up SO fast and it will be here before I even know it. I feel like I had a really solid week of training and keep building up my mileage, which is where I need to be. Next weekend will be my first long run in the training cycle in Austin, so that will definitely be interesting considering how hot and humid it is. Anyways, here’s what week #3 looked like for me:

Sunday: Rest!
Monday:
5 easy miles with stride outs
Tuesday:
Sprints = 800m w/u, 10x400m with 200m jog plus 800m c/d
Wednesday:
4 recovery miles + OTF
Thursday:
9 miles!
Friday: 
Rest!
