Hope you guys are staying warm! It was absolutely frigid here this weekend —> see the weather I woke up to yesterday morning:

Winter weather in Minneapolis | Crazy Running Girl

Brr! I definitely took this to mean that a) I should not go outside (I did go to the grocery store, but it was more parking garage to parking garage — score) and b) it should be a rest day. 😉

I did a fun workout on Saturday morning — I was super short on time so there wasn’t time for a full running workout, but I hit the treadmill for 10 minutes and started it at 7.1 and added .1 every minute. So by the end, I was at 8.1 (7:24). I’m not sure if it was that, or this that meant that my legs were dying yesterday:

I first tried this a few weeks ago in a fitness bootcamp and it was HARD. I tried to jump up so many times and when I finally made it, I could barely stay on because my legs were shaking so hard. I made it a goal to master the jump up and also be able to do squats on it. I successfully jumped up first try yesterday AND completed 10 squats (twice actually!). I love when you hit a fitness goal like that because it reminds you of how much progress you’ve made, and for me, it makes me more excited to keep it going.

I can’t believe that I start training for the Boston Marathon NEXT weekend. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been doing what I call “pre-training” to try and build up some fitness so I’m not just starting at nothing when I get into training. I haven’t been hitting it as hard as I would during training, but I feel like I have a pretty solid base built up. Last week, I set a few goals — here’s how I did on them this week:

  • Running 5 days: Success! 10 miles Sunday / 3 miles in the cold on Monday / rest day on Tuesday / rest day on Wednesday / 3.25 miles on the treadmill on Thursday / 4 miles on Tuesday / 10 minutes (about 1.30 miles) on Saturday [22ish miles total]
  • Strength training 2 days: Success! I found the TRX straps in my apartment and I love love LOVE those.
  • Ab workouts: Umm kinda a success? I did it a few days this week but need to get better.

This week is going to be a little crazy with the holidays/cold weather, so I’m not setting any specific goals… it might be better to go into Boston training with some fresh legs, anyways. 😉

What was your weather like this weekend? What was your favorite thing about this weekend?
