Today I am taking a much needed rest day after knocking out 14 miles yesterday! It is the longest mid-run training run during this training cycle, and I admit, it was kind of a beast. I think mentally I psyched myself out a bit, but I got it done and it felt good (9:23 avg pace). One step closer to that PR at Boston!
And now, it’s time for my weekly Let’s Get Real series. Enjoy. 🙂
Have you watched the Santa Clarita Diet?
OK, so I’ve been hooked on Grey’s Anatomy (still, I know.) but I was enticed to check out Netflix’s newest series, Santa Clarita Diet, because Drew Barrymore is in it and it sounds really entertaining. (Since my try something new for February fell through, does this count!?)
Let’s get real: It IS very entertaining, but oh my gosh it is SO GROSS. If you can’t handle vomit — and LOTS of vomit — you may not be able to make it through the first episode. The second and third episode have their gross parts (I mean, it’s unrealistic so that helps make it a little less gross), but it is pretty entertaining. You’ve been warned. 😉
How do I have a 14-year-old nephew?
My nephew turns 14 years old next week and this weekend, I am headed back to Wisconsin to celebrate it with him! We were going to go skiing, but I’m not sure if that’s going to happen given this weather (sad face).
Let’s get real: I feel SUPER old saying that I have a 14-year-old nephew! I don’t know where the time has gone… in just a few short years, he’s going to be driving and off to college. I think he’s already taller than me. Seriously.
Will I ever become a morning person?
I was thinking about this yesterday when I shared THIS article on Twitter. I have been trying to be a cheerful morning person for a few years now –> basically since I lived in NYC so we are approaching 7 years now. So that’s more than a few years. 😉
Let’s get real: I’ve learned that I probably will never be a cheery person in the AM… maybe at some point, but for now, I’m just going with the idea of being OK with getting up early at the crack of dawn.
I have found that the Sleep Cycle app helps a LOT (if you haven’t heard of it, check it out. It analyzes your sleep and has a great intelligent alarm system that has helped me wake up better than a traditional alarm) and have tried getting 7.5+ hours of sleep a night, but with the same result.
Someday I’ll figure this out, or maybe I’ll just turn into a vampire.
Have you checked out Santa Clarita Diet yet? What did you think?
What TV show are you crushing on right now?
Are you a morning or night person?
