I cannot believe that it’s only 27 days until the Boston Marathon!
It’s crazy how when you start marathon training, it feels like you have forever until race day and just when you get to that point where you are tired of running all the miles… it just sneaks up on you and suddenly you’re in taper mode and wishing that you had a few more miles to tackle.
Last week was definitely an interesting week training wise. I was in Colorado and New Mexico, so my runs were at altitude. Interestingly enough, I didn’t feel the impact that I thought I was going to and was able to hit my paces pretty well. I was slightly slower, but not as bad as I thought I was going to be.
As I mentioned yesterday, I also made the choice to shift my long run to last night so I didn’t have to worry about fitting it in while I was traveling.
For the Boston Marathon, it makes sense to do a long run on a Monday since that’s when the race is. I feel like I’m one step closer to this lady, who has really gone above and beyond in making her training runs feel like race days.
So –> a look at last week’s mileage:
Tu: 8 miles @ 9:29 avg pace
We: 11 miles @ 9:41 avg pace (so much wind!)
Th: rest day
Fr: Track workout (see here) ~2 miles
Sa: 6 mile trail run
Su: Rest day / hike in ABQ
Mo: 17 miles @ 8:54 avg per mile
Total: 44 miles
Next week is my last long run before taper! I have 21 miles on the calendar and then from there, it’s already time to start cutting down the miles. CRAZY SAUCE.
