This weekend, I headed back to Wisconsin to celebrate my sister’s birthday yesterday with a girls’ weekend in Door County. Door County may be one of the prettiest parts of the state, and sometimes I forget that I’m still in the Midwest with these views:

Door County is about two hours away from my hometown where my sister and cousin live. On the way, we stopped to grab some food from Scuba Steve’s –> I must admit, I was in charge of finding food (since apparently I’m the one that’s always hungry) and I may or may not have chosen this place based on the name reminding me of Big Daddy, one of my favorite movies. 😉

We then made our way to the expo, which was in Ephraim, and checked out the views:

After that, we hit up The Cookery for dinner. Can you guess which one I ordered? 😉

Saturday was the half marathon —> full recap on the blog tomorrow! But, spoiler alert, we all got shiny new PRs (does it count if it was my cousin’s first half marathon, and I tied my previous PR — yes to the second?):

Afterwards, we realized we didn’t exercise enough, so we went back to Peninsula State Park for the Eagle Bluff Hike and enjoyed some gorgeous views.

I haven’t been to Door County in forever, so it was a nice weekend to get back and enjoy the sights without all the craziness of the people (it’s insane with tourists in the summer).

I’ve been running since the Boston Marathon, but I think it’s fair to say that I really didn’t ramp up training to where my training plan says it needs to be for Grandmas Marathon until this week. I am a little nervous that it’s only 6 weeks away! I am currently following the Pete Pfitzinger Advanced Marathoning plan for eight weeks between marathons. Here’s what my training looked like last week:

Su: 7 miles with 8x100m strides for 9:19 per mile + arm workout
rest day
Tu: 6 miles easy at 9:38 per mile + arm workout
We: rest day
Th: 4 miles easy at 9:34 per mile
Fr: rest day
Sa: Half marathon in 1:41.24

Total: 30 miles

YES, the arm workouts are back… and here to stay! This week will be a little tougher (two double digit runs!), which I need to get back in the swing of being a morning person. So. hard.

And lastly, for some motivation on this Monday, one of my favorite quotes:
