Well guys, I did it! I survived the desert.
AKA, I spent nearly five full days in Lake Havausu in Arizona and managed to not get sunburnt. This is a big deal for me because usually I’m the person that gets fried on the first day and has immediately regret.
We were out there for Steph’s bachelorette, so even though it was in the high 110s, we were in the water nearly the entire time —> either the pool or the lake.
And it was gorgeous:
I cannot get over how huge this lake is. Fun fact that I don’t know how to swim, and it was actually terrifying when I jumped into the water the first time (life jacket on, of course)… I don’t know why, but the thought of how huge that lake is coupled with how deep it must be, was just a little scary.
I’m usually freaked out the first time I get into the water but feel better afterwards. I really should learn how to swim (especially since I live in the Land of 10,000 Lakes) but pretty sure it’s a genetic thing. 😉
My vacation continues with a trip to northern Minnesota, where I’m joining some friends in renting a cabin. It’s going to be about half the temperature (can you believe that?) as Arizona, but I am super excited to wrap up in a hoodie and sweats. Is that weird?
And, because of the heat and some leftover pains from the marathon, I have not yet run since the race. I usually say I’m going to take about a week off, but it never works out that way. I will probably run later this week, but the break is welcome.
Where’s the last place you went on vacation? Have you ever been to Lake Havasu?
How hot is TOO hot for you?
