I think it’s safe to say that we are in the heart of summer running now that we’ve hit the 4th of July. And to survive these hot runs (that are bound to only get hotter), there are a few things that are essentials to get through and do more than just survive these runs.
Here are seven summer running essentials on my list for this year:
1. Fremont Running Tank
I just got this tank from Brooks a few months ago and it’s one of my favorites. I have been wearing it for more than just running — to the beach, fishing, etc. The Fremont Running Tank is super lightweight, which I love, and also has tons of breathability for those summer runs.
2. Minerals & Antioxidants
After a hot run, I generally feel like garbage until I can get some electrolytes into my system and I’m obsessed with the Minerals & Antioxidants from Life’s Abundance. I used to be all about Nuun until I realized that their formula was giving me some major stomach problems. Thus far, the Minerals & Antioxidants has done the trick — giving me a quick shot of electrolytes without causing any stomach issues.
3. Kaenon Sunglasses
With my blue eyes, they are REALLY sensitive which means… if I’m outside at all in the summer, my sunglasses are on. I am obsessed with my Kaenon Sunglasses because they are really durable — and I can wear them for running, working out, going out on the boat, etc…. pretty much anywhere. The best part about them is that they do not move… I hate when you get some running sunglasses and they bounce on your face as you run, and you can’t fix it! There are a few other models that I’d love to try out, but right now I have these ones.
4. Gold Bond Friction Defense
I don’t know about you, but I have to say chafing is by far the worst thing that can happen on a summer run. It’s so darn painful, both while you are running and when you are done. I’ve been using the Gold Bond Friction Defense for years now and I absolutely love it. I never experience any issues when I use this stuff… and it stays on pretty well, even in the rain!
5. Nathan Quick Shot
I wrote about this a few weeks ago, but it’s seriously a savior on my runs! I love how easy the Nathan Quick Shot is to carry and it comes in a few different sizes so you can have enough water for the distance that you are going.
When I’m not running, I need to have my Hydroflask within four feet of me at all times. I love how this keeps my water at the perfect temperature — I don’t like ice cold water (that hurts!) and I can put in water at the temperature I like, and it will be like that hours later.
