Just like that, I have my first week of ultramarathon training in the books! It went by so fast and more importantly, I survived. But before I get that, some fun life things!
I think I’ve said this a billion times, but I am loving being back in the Midwest for summer because the weather is just so awesome. I love seeing sunsets like this:
And being able to watch them (while fishing) with a hoodie on.
I don’t think I wore hoodies for 10.5 months out of the year while living in Austin. 😉
I wrapped up the weekend with an Atmosphere concert to wrap up the summer X Games:
If you don’t know Atmosphere, he’s an awesome rapper from Minneapolis –> I love his music and it was so cool to finally see him live.
So far, so good –> there is a life outside of ultramarathon training. Ask me in a few weeks, though. 😉
Week 1 of Ultramarathon Training Recap
This is what my week looked like:
- Sunday: rest day
- Monday: 4 miles @ 10:34 per mile + arm workout
- Tuesday: 10 miles @9:55 per mile
- Wednesday: 5.1 miles @ 9:39 per mile / 5 miles @ 9:39 per mile
- Thursday: rest day
- Friday: 10.3 miles @ 8:50ish per mile
- Saturday: 4 miles @ 8:17 per mile
Total miles: 38 miles
A few things to note from this week of training:
— My legs felt SO dead to kick it off. I think a little bit not recovered from Grandma’s, out of shape with a little bit of a leg injury (that’s FINALLY feeling better) mixed in there. The end of the week was much better, so I’ll take it.
— I was supposed to have a few more strength training workouts, but ran out of time. I need to do a better job of balancing that with the rest of training because I feel like these will be imperative to me being successful at ultramarathon running.
— I really need to figure out how to get better at drinking water. I used to be really good at this, so it’s disappointing that it’s not the case anymore.
And because we all need a dose of cute in our lives:
