YOU GUYS… I am about 48 hours away from boarding my plane to Canada for the Golden Ultra, and I think it’s finally starting to hit me that this is really happening. I’m excited, but also freaking out because I’m realizing how huge this race is. More on all the feelings later this week… but today, let’s chat about fall races!
I think fall is my favorite time of year to race; the weather is awesome and all of my favorite distances are available! I know I’ve been talking a LOT about this weekend’s race, but there is a life after that and I do have some fun races on the calendar.
So here goes, my fall 2017 race schedule!
1. Golden Ultra (Sep. 22-24)
Oh, I haven’t mentioned this race yet? 🙂 In case you missed it, this race is a stage series, so there are three races that make up the weekend:
I am taking bets on whether I can actually walk on to the plane on Monday after this race weekend. 😉
2. TC 10 Miler (Oct. 1)
This is the FIRST time I’m running the TC 10 Miler; I usually opt for the marathon, but I’m super excited to try this distance on Twin Cities Marathon weekend! I have heard great things about this course, and the weather is generally pretty solid. I have no goals for this race but to have a good time, because I honestly do not know how my legs will be feeling post-ultra.
3. Autumn Woods Classic 5k (Oct. 7)
I have not yet signed up for this race, but it is definitely one that I’m considering. I ran it last year and it was a great race… I loved the long-sleeve tech tee that we got and it was perfect fall weather. So, if my legs cooperate for the TC 10 Miler, I will be signing up for this one, too!
4. Halloween Half (Oct. 28)
Funny story, this was actually supposed to be a 5k run in September (I think last weekend!) but the race organizers cancelled that race and offered us an entry into the Halloween Half event (they have other distances) so I opted for the half! I figured this will be perfect training for the Indianapolis Marathon on my calendar in November.
I am still debating about wearing a costume. I have never actually run a Halloween race (if you don’t count last year’s Marine Corps Marathons because I don’t), so it would be kind of fun to dress up!
5. Indianapolis Monumental Marathon (Nov. 4)
I am not quite sure what my race goals look like for this race yet. I honestly want to see how the ultra goes and how the recovery goes after the race to decide whether or not I go for a PR (eek!).
What races do you have on your calendar this fall?
Do you do Halloween races? What’s your favorite running costume (I need ideas, ha!)?
